1964 The Tribute
WSCC News is a presentation of West Shore Community College in partnership with Mason County Press.
VICTORY TOWNSHIP — West Shore Community College is preparing for a new season of entertainment with its 2026-27 Performing Arts Series, featuring nationally touring performers, theater productions, jazz, comedy and appearances by acclaimed artists and authors.
The season will include performances at the college’s Center Stage Theater as well as the Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts in Manistee and L.F. Peterson Auditorium at Ludington High School.
The series opens Sept. 9 with Bruce Holsinger, an award-winning novelist and author of “Culpability,” an Oprah’s Book Club selection. Holsinger will appear at Center Stage Theater for a free, all-ages event featuring the nationally recognized author and educator.
Music follows Sept. 11 when “1964”…The Tribute brings the sound and energy of an early 1960s Beatles concert to the Ramsdell Theatre. The group is known for its detailed re-creation of the Beatles’ instruments, clothing, hairstyles and stage presence and has performed together for more than two decades.
The WSCC Theatre department will present “The Wizard of Oz” in late October and early November at Center Stage Theater. The production follows Dorothy, Toto and their companions along the Yellow Brick Road and will feature music, colorful characters and imaginative sets. Special Halloween-themed activities also are planned in conjunction with the production.
The Steven Page Trio will perform Nov. 20 at the Ramsdell. Page, a co-founder and former vocalist and songwriter for Barenaked Ladies, will be joined by guitarist Craig Northey and cellist Kevin Fox.
The college’s Holiday Rock Spectacular V returns Dec. 5-6 at Center Stage Theater. Now in its fifth installment, the production transforms the theater into a rock concert featuring an ensemble of musicians, concert lighting and special effects, with performances of holiday classics, rock favorites and other music.
The spring season will include a WSCC Theatre production of “The Secret Garden,” based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The story explores friendship, discovery, resilience and renewal.
The Michigan State University Bebop Spartans will perform Feb. 4 at Ludington High School’s L.F. Peterson Auditorium. Led by Professor Rodney Whitaker, the collegiate jazz ensemble will share the stage with WSCC Jazz Band I for a program featuring big band favorites and contemporary standards.
The Performing Arts Series concludes March 19 when stand-up magician Derek Hughes performs at Center Stage Theater. Hughes has appeared on Comedy Central, “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “America’s Got Talent,” combining comedy with sleight of hand.
The winter and spring seasons also will feature free performances by the WSCC Wind Symphony & Percussion Ensemble, Concert Choir and Jazz Ensembles I and II, showcasing WSCC students and musicians from throughout the region.
“Each season, we strive to bring exceptional performers and experiences to our community while providing opportunities for audiences to experience the arts close to home,” said Ted Malt, WSCC professor of music and director of performing arts. “We are thrilled with the caliber and diversity of our programming with the 2026-2027 lineup.”
