SCOTTVILLE — Motorists traveling on roads in the northern half of Mason County should expect fresh pavement markings beginning Thursday, June 4, as the Mason County Road Commission undertakes a countywide striping project.
According to the Mason County Road Commission, numerous county primary and local roads between US-10 and Countyline Road will receive new yellow centerlines. Primary roads will also receive fresh white edge lines. The work is scheduled to begin June 4 and is expected to be substantially completed by June 30, weather permitting.
The project will be completed by a contractor, who will place traffic cones alongside wet pavement markings during the painting process. Drivers are asked not to cross the freshly painted lines when cones are present in order to prevent damage to the markings and paint transfer to vehicles.
Road commission officials said the work will take several days to complete and is dependent on weather conditions.
