MCC board to consider administrator contracts, new teacher hires

May 13, 2026

SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central Schools Board of Education will consider administrator contract renewals and the hiring of two new teachers when it meets Friday, May 15, at 7 a.m. in the MCC High School community room.

Superintendent Jeff Mount is expected to recommend renewal of two-year administrator contracts for High School Principal and District Assessment Coordinator Jeff Tuka, Middle School Principal Rob Dennis, Upper Elementary Principal Jessica Danielson, Scottville Elementary Principal Chris Etchison and Business Manager Kris Courtland-Willick. According to the superintendent’s informational report, each administrator received an “effective or better” performance review, with the renewals extending contracts through June 30, 2028.

The board is also expected to consider the hiring of Emily Roussin as the district’s elementary and high school art teacher and George Peterson as an upper elementary special education teacher.

Tuka recommended Roussin for the art position, citing her experience in Upper Peninsula schools and with West Shore Educational Service District, along with her work as an early childhood coordinator at Walkerville Public Schools.

Danielson recommended Peterson for the upper elementary special education vacancy, noting his work with enrichment programming and STEM opportunities at the Upper Elementary building.

Other action items on Friday’s agenda include setting the date and time for the district’s 2026-27 budget hearing and approval of board policy updates and revisions following a second reading.

Board members will also hear administrative reports from district principals, the business manager and superintendent.

The meeting was rescheduled from May 18 to May 15 due to second-round superintendent interviews planned for May 18. Read related story here.
