David Fenner

David Michael Fenner, 61, of Ludington, passed away Saturday April 18, 2026. He attended Ludington High School and went on to entertain many people in his sales jobs, at a gaming store he opened in the 1990s and as bartender for many years at The Alley Bar.

For 21 years David shared his life with his beloved wife Julie (Foster) Fenner. Their partnership was the foundation upon which their world was built- a 21-year journey of big and small victories, hardships they conquered together, shared hobbies and endless love. Though David suffered with several health problems that could have easily set him back, with support and care from Julie he took them in stride.

The role that David took most pride in was by and large that of father. His three daughters Lyndsi, Kyle, and Morgan were his pride and joy. He did not just raise them, he built them worlds. Whether it was narrating a game of Dungeons and Dragons for his young daughters or telling them about a galaxy far far away, David made sure to instill a sense of wonder and adventure in his girls and was always beaming with pride and bragging endlessly over the wonderful things they could come up with and create.

David was a storyteller and loved to share his passion for fantasy with his lifelong friends playing Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering weekly for decades. He was a fan of The Detroit Lions for over 30 years, and while David may not have seen a superbowl win from his beloved team, that never stopped him from rooting for them and sporting their colors year-round. A lifelong music lover had him playing bass and guitar since he was a teenager- performing with different bands from the 1980s to mid 2000s. When a medical issue left him unable to play he fought tirelessly for years to relearn the guitar, and was so happy when he could finally play his favorite song again. That was David- when the going got tough he kept going, he found work arounds and never gave up (not even on The Lions.)

David was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Leeroy and Fredrica Larson, his father Doyle Fenner, his cousin Howard Schwass and niece Misty Hathaway. He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Julie Fenner, his children Lyndsi McKay, Kyle (Dustin) Schlaack, Morgan (Alex) Fenner-Drzik, his siblings Randy (Jill) Hathaway and Tanya (Shawn) Walter, several nieces and nephews, his cousin Kathy Larson and his mother Marilyn Fenner who was his rock and best friend.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 3 from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Alley Bar in Ludington. Anyone wishing to join to celebrate and tell stories of David (or Spike) are welcome to join.

May The Force Be With You David, always.
