Women Who Care of Mason County and Men Who Care of Mason County will hold their quarterly gatherings in separate locations on Tuesday, May 6 at 5:30 p.m.
Women Who Care will meet at the Ludington United Methodist Church, 5810 W. Bryant Rd., Pere Marquette Township while Men Who Care will meet at People’s Church, 115 W. Loomis St., Ludington.
Attendees and those who have committed to belong to the groups individually donate a set amount to a local charitable organization selected during the meeting. Attendees may nominate a charity and three are selected randomly with an attendee making a pitch for the organization that he/she nominated.
Neither Care groups is a formal organization. All donations are made directly to the selected organization from those in attendance.
Women Who Care of Mason County was formed in 2012 and now has about 175 women who have pledged to give quarterly. Since 2017, donations to local non-profits has exceeded $235,000. Last February, Community Cats TNR was the quarterly recipient.
Men Who Care of Mason County was formed in February of this year. During its first meeting, 33 men were in attendance and donated $2,800 to Lakeshore Children’s Advocacy Center.
