Man arrested after 911 call reporting suspect swinging sword in parks

LUDINGTON — A 41-year-old Ludington man was arrested by Ludington police Sunday afternoon, Sept. 29, for disorderly conduct and methamphetamine possession following a call in Legacy Plaza and Waterfront Park that there was someone with a sword, said Cpt. Michael Haveman of the Ludington Police Department.

The man did not have a sword, but he had some type of object that he was swinging around like a sword, said Cpt. Haveman.

He was lodged at the Mason County Jail.

Friday, Sept. 27, 2024:

  • 12:27 a.m., a 46-year-old Ludington man was arrested for domestic assault, 800 block of North Rowe Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged at the Mason County Jail. 
  • 10:54 a.m., a 33-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on three warrants in the 600 block of North Rowe Street, City of Ludington. Her warrants were for a traffic offense and aggravated domestic violence in Muskegon County’s 60th District Court and operating without a license issued in Ottawa County’s 58th District Court. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.  
  • 8:09 p.m., a 67-year-old Portage man was arrested on a warrant following a traffic stop near Ludington Avenue and  Jackson Road, City of Ludington. The warrant was a civil warrant with a statewide pick-up range issued in Kalamazoo. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.  
  • 11:23 p.m., a 35-year-old Idlewild man was arrested for retail fraud, disorderly conduct, malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest and on a failure to appear warrant issued in Manistee County following a call in the 300 block of West Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.  

Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024:

  • 12:12 p.m., a 51-year-old Ludington man was arrested for bond violation, felonious assault and possession of a firearm while intoxicated following an incident in the 600 block of North Rowe Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.  

Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024:

  • 5:37 a.m., a 42-year-old Branch man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant issued in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court following a traffic stop near Ludington Avenue and James Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
