Obituary: Jacob ‘Frank’ Judis, 94, of Irons

Jacob “Frank” Judis, 94, longtime resident of Irons, died peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at The Sanctuary of Bellbrook in Rochester Hills.  He was born November 19, 1929 in Irons, the son of Dominic and Kazimera (Elijosius) Judis, who preceded him in death.  Frank graduated from the Norman-Dickson Rural Agricultural High School in Brethren with the class of 1950.  Frank served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Air Force.

On August 30, 1958, he married Lorraine Agnes Lewandowski in Chicago and celebrated 55 wonderful years together before Lorraine preceded him in death in 2013.

Frank was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Irons since it opened in 1948 until he moved to Rochester Hills in 2018.  Frank loved hunting, fishing, gardening, attending mass, ministering communion, and praying the rosary.

Along with his wife Lorraine and his parents, Frank was preceded in death by all his siblings including brothers, Peter, Tony, Louis (Caroline) Judis of Muskegon, , Stanley (Patricia) Judis of Howard City, Monsignor Walter Francis Jude of Irons, and by his sisters Anna Judis of Irons, Sister Donata Judis, Sister Emeliana Judis and Sister Helen Jude all of Grand Rapids, and his daughter-in-law Nancy Judis of New Berlin, Wis.

Frank will be lovingly remembered by his sons and their wives Mike Judis of New Berlin, Wis. Jeff and Sue Judis of West Chicago, Peter and Judy Judis of Rochester Hills; his beloved grandchildren Ashton (Justin) King, Trent (Amanda) Judis, Michael Keller, Nicole (Brandon) Cuspard, Katie, Benji, John, Jack, and Sarah Judis; along with several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Frank at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Irons, with Rev. Matthew Barnum and Rev. Dennis O’Donnell as Con-celebrants.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Irons.  Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Thursday July 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, where the Rosary will be prayed for Frank at 7:30 p.m.
