Cheryl Darlene Lopatka, 76, of Ludington, formerly of Wheaton, Ill., passed away on Monday July 1, 2024. Cheryl was born on February 25, 1948, in Chicago to Clarence M. and Marjorie E. (Stokes) Griswold. She graduated from West Leyden High School in 1966. On April 8, 1978, Cheryl married the love of her life, Don L. Lopatka.

Professionally, Cheryl dedicated many years of service as a secretary at CrossRoads Church, where she was not only a staff member but also an active participant. Her role at the church extended beyond her administrative duties, deeply involving herself in various church activities and Bible study groups.

Cheryl had a passion for sewing, which she pursued in her spare time. She also enjoyed spending time at the Ludington beaches, where she found peace and solace in the natural beauty of her surroundings. Her interest in computers and music allowed her to stay connected with the latest technologies and trends.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Don Lopatka; sister, Debbi Khayat; brothers-in-law, Chris Khayat and Jerry (Venessa) Lopatka; and many nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her son, Dustin Lopatka; parents, Clarence and Marjorie Griswold; parents-in-law, Leo and Josephine Lopatka; and brother-in-law, Robert Lopatka.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at noon, immediately following the morning worship service at CrossRoads Church. Memorial contributions in Cheryl’s honor can be made to CrossRoads Church in Custer Township (Scottville).
