Nancy Miller

Nancy Lee Miller, 94, former resident of Walhalla, died peacefully on June 16, 2024 in Dexter.  She was a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother – great- through great-great, strived to help others and was always there to assist whether help was needed or not.

Nancy was born on July 19, 1929 in Detroit, the daughter of Ed and Helen Brown.  She graduated from Lincoln Park High School and worked at Cunningham’s drug store as a fountain girl during that time.  After a short marriage, Nancy began working at General Motors in order to support and raise her two daughters.

In 1955 she married the love of her life, Peter G. Miller. Together, along with creating two sons, they had many entrepreneur adventures starting with selling real estate in the Lincoln Park area.  In 1966, Pete and Nancy bought Shore Lanes Bowling Alley in Lexington Heights.  In 1979, they sold the bowling center and bought Long Lake Resort in Walhalla.  There are so many memories that were made for family, friends and customers alike during their time there.  They sold the resort and continued to live in their large, love filled home until Peter’s death in 2004.  Nancy then moved to Zephyrhills, Fla. where she continued to enjoy reading, painting and fixing up her place.  One of the memories that she loved was to frequent a glass making factory and collect scrapes of glass.  She had a special place in her heart for blown glass throughout her life.

Nancy will always be remembered for her faith, generous nature, and willingness to get her hands dirty on any kind of home improvement project.  In addition we will never forget the awesome breakfast meals she could whip up for a crowd.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter G. Miller; her sister, Sharol Laws; and her parents, Ed and Helen Brown.

Nancy will be greatly missed by her children, Kathy White, Kris Olechowski,  Cherl (Timothy) Miller Laux, Peter (Joan) Miller, and Nick Miller; a combined 13 grandchildren, and too many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren to count.  She will also be missed by her sisters, Lila (Dan) Outland, and Margaret Bramhill.

A ceremony to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3 at Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services in Scottville with burial to follow at Bachelor Cemetery in Sheridan Township.  Friends may meet with her family on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
