Man arrested on warrant after asking to buy marijuana from sheriff’s wife, other people in store parking lot

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 68-year-old Mason County man was arrested Monday evening, June 17, on an outstanding warrant by Mason County sheriff’s deputies “following several reports of a male subject approaching people in the Aldi’s parking lot asking to buy marijuana — one of those approached being the sheriff’s wife,” said Mason County Sheriff’s Kim Cole.

The warrant for failure to appear was issued in Oceana County, said the sheriff.

The following is other activity of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office Monday, June 17, 2024:

  • 1:45 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Sugar Grove Road east of LaSalle Road, Victory Township.
  • 11:42 a.m., retail fraud, Dollar General, North US 31, Grant Township. MCSO continues to investigate a reported retail fraud in which the identification of the suspect is known.
  • 5:46 p.m., two-vehicle, hit-and-run crash, no injury, Killdeer and White Swan lanes, Hamlin Township.
  • 10:12 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive south of Dewey Road, Hamlin Township.
