Alleged wrong way driver crashes, leaves the scene

SCOTTVILLE — A 60-year-old Ludington woman was arrested by a Mason County sheriff’s deputy after crashing the vehicle she was driving and leaving the scene Sunday, June 9, shortly after midnight on Fifth Street near Main Street, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“The vehicle was spotted by a deputy, and a traffic stop was made on North Main near the Scottville Wesco,” said Sheriff Cole. “This vehicle had also been reported as a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of US 10 prior to the crash and eventual traffic stop.” No one was injured.

  • 7:47 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 29-year-old Ludington woman was cited for driving without a license, and a 23-year-old Ludington man was arrested for methamphetamine possession following a traffic stop, Sixth and Sherman streets, City of Ludington. The man was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Friday, June 7, 2024:

  • 12:17 p.m., (LPD), a 28-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear issued by Mason County’s 79th District Court, 900 block of West Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 7 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Grace Road east of Lincoln Road, Hamlin Township.
  • 11 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of US 10, Pere Marquette Township.

Saturday, June 8, 2024:

  • 4:30 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 freeway north of the Meisenheimer Road overpass, Summit Township.
  • 7:02 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), alarm activation, Amber Township.
  • 11:01 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Meisenheimer Road east of Hogenson Road, Riverton Township.
  • 12:46 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a 30-year-old Ludington man was arrested on an outstanding Ludington Police Department warrant for damaging property, 5700 block of West Barton Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 3:49 p.m., (LPD), a 31-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for domestic assault, child endangerment and interfering with a 911 call, 200 block of Second Street, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 10:10 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Dennis Road north of US 10, Amber Township.

Sunday, June 9, 2024:

  • 10 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a 22-year-old Free Soil man was arrested on two failure to appear warrants issued in Mason County for minor in possession of alcohol and operating while intoxicated — under 21, 10000 block of North US 10, Free Soil Township.
  • 12:15 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), ​retail fraud, Walmart, West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. MCSO continues to investigate a reported retail fraud.
  • 8:19 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Chauvez Road west of Benedict Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 10:17 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a 21-year-old East Lake man was arrested for operating with a high blood alcohol content after he reportedly rear-ended the vehicle driving in front of him, no one was injured, US 31 south of Koenig Road, Free Soil Township.
