Man sentenced to 4-40 years in prison for assault convictions

LUDINGTON — A 44-year-old man was sentenced to prison in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, April 30, on three assault convictions.

Christopher Lee Merriman, pleaded “no contest” March 19 to charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, domestic violence and/or knowingly assaulting a pregnant individual and assault with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced Tuesday to concurrent terms of four to 40 years; four to 15 years; and 200 days in jail by Judge Susan K. Sniegowski.

Merriman received credit for 200 days served in jail.

He was found guilty of probation violation and sentenced April 16 to 46 months to 20 years in prison with credit for 649 days served in jail . Probation stems from a 2021 conviction of breaking and entering a building with intent and weapons/ammunition possession by a felon.
