Fayetta Griffith

Fayetta Dawn Griffith, 89, of Custer passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 with her husband of 72 years, and her son and daughter by her side.  Fayetta was born on August 14, 1934 on the family homestead in Fountain, the daughter of Marion and Viola (Hughes) Cormany.  Her father tragically died when she was only 18 months old, and after her mother was remarried to Arthur Smith, he became a loving father to her.  Fayetta graduated from Scottville High School with the class of 1952 and married the love of her life, Lyle H. Griffith, on August 16, 1952 at the Fountain Methodist Church.

Fayetta loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother to her family, always looking for ways to share her love with them.  She was well known for her cake decorating and blessed many in the area with her beautiful wedding cakes through the years.  She was also quite proud of her flower gardens which adorned their homes.

Fayetta was preceded in death by her parents Marion, Viola, and stepdad Arthur; and by her beloved great-grandson Adam Rader.

Along with her husband Lyle, Fayetta will be greatly missed by her children Charles Lyle Griffith of Custer, and Lyetta (Mike) Genung of Scottville; her grandchildren Andy (Kendra) Outcult of San Antonio, Texas, Jessie Outcult of Walhalla, AmiJo (Joe) Voorheis of Fountain, William (Amy) Chye of Muskegon, Patrick (Roxanne) Chye of Custer, Andrea (David) Fredrick of Missouri, and Theresa (Robert) Edwards of Montana; 13 great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held for Fayetta at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 18 at Bachelor Evangelical Covenant Church with her son-in-law, Pastor Mike Genung officiating.  Burial will take place at Fountain Cemetery.  Friends may meet with her family during a time of visitation on Thursday morning from 10:00 am until time of services at the church.
