Thief stealing scrap metal flees scene

RIVERTON TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a larceny that was reported Tuesday, March 26, around 3 p.m. in the 7000 block of S. Morton Road.

“The complainant reported showing up at his property and encountering a subject loading scrap metal into a truck,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “The subject fled in the vehicle when approached.”

Monday, March 25, 2024:

  • (Ludington Police Department), a 48-year-old Scottville woman was arrested on a felony warrant for uttering and publishing and using a computer to commit a crime, 500 block of 3rd Street, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 8:44 p.m., (Masson County Sheriff’s Office), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 west of Meyers  Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 11:24 p.m., (MCSO), a 20-year-old Ludington woman was arrested following a traffic stop on an outstanding felony cocaine possession warrant issued by the Michigan State Police, Hart post, US 10 and Brye Road, Amber Township.

Tuesday, March 26, 2024:

  • 11:07 a.m., (LPD), a 64-year-old Ludington woman was cited for driving on a restricted license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Ludington Avenue and Robert Street, City of Ludington.
  • 12:24 p.m., (MCSO), ​damaged property — mailbox, 6400 block of West Decker Road, Hamlin Township.
  • 2:22 p.m., (LPD), a 34-year-old Ludington man was arrested on five failure to appear warrants issued by Mason County’s 79th District Court, 700 block 3rd Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 2:25 p.m., (LPD), a 56-year-old Ludington man was arrested on a felony warrant out issued in Oceana County, 900 block of Conrad Industrial Drive, City of Ludington. He was turned over to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office to be lodged in Oceana County.
  • 7:36 p.m., ​a 47-year-old Fountain man was arrested on an outstanding Mason County failure to appear warrant, 900 block of South Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.
