Curling Club offering class on Sunday
VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The Ludington Area Curling Club will hold a Learn to Curl class on Sunday, March 10 from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. at the West Shore Community Ice Arena, located on the campus of West Shore Community College.
“We’re really just hoping to get more people to try it out and gain interest in the sport,” said Dani McGarry, a member of the Ludington Area Curling Club’s board of directors.
The cost to attend the class is $20 per person, payable to the West Shore Community Ice Arena, and will include personal instruction on how to throw curling stones, sweep, game strategy and rules during a two hour practice lesson and game. All equipment will be provided.
“We have some people who like to learn the traditional method of throwing stones, in a low glide on the ice, and others who use the stick-throwing method, similar to shuffleboard. It’s really adaptable,” said McGarry.
