Part-Time, Year-Round (30 hours per week)

Hourly Rate: $15 per hour

Location: Downtown Ludington

The Mason County Historical Society is the cornerstone of preserving and sharing the rich history of Mason County, Michigan. Founded in 1937, the Society is committed to collecting, preserving, and interpreting the cultural heritage of Mason County for present and future generations. The Society strives to foster an appreciation for local history through engaging exhibits, educational programs, and community outreach.

Job Summary: Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), the Executive Assistant provides executive support in a one-on-one working relationship. The Executive Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on matters pertaining to the Office of the Executive Director. The Executive Assistant also serves as a liaison on behalf of the ED to the Board of Directors and senior management, organizes and coordinates executive outreach and external relations efforts, and oversees special projects.

The Executive Assistant must be creative and enjoy working within a small, history-based environment that is mission and results driven and community oriented. This is a part-time year-round position, averaging 30 hours a week. During organizational peak times, this position requires the ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours. In general, the need for coverage of non-traditional hours is known in advance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or higher
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Workspace, and Canva.
  • Experience with non-profits and donor management systems is preferred.
  • Resourceful team player with the ability to work independently.
