Filer Credit Union offering $25,000 in scholarships

FILER TOWNSHIP (Manistee County) – Filer Credit Union is offering $25,000 in scholarships to area youth pursuing higher education.

“Through our mission of developing financial wellness through community relationships and education, one of the best investments we can make is in our youth,” said Kyle Gurzynki, CEO of Filer Credit Union. “They are the building blocks to our future. An investment in our local students is an investment in our community, and our community is who makes us who we are today. We love being a supportive part of their educational journey, and I always look forward to this time of year.”

The credit union will award 10 $2,000 scholarships based on a scoring rubric and five scholarships for $1,000 drawn randomly and awarded to eligible students.

“There was a very productive discussion after presenting our scholarships in 2023 with the Filer Credit Union Board of Directors, who are actively involved as the Scholarship Committee,” said Zachary Pawlowski, FCU director of innovation. “We wanted to provide a greater impact for first year college students by upping our scholarship disbursement from $20,000 to $25,000 as an annual contribution towards our local youth.”

Applications for the Filer Credit Union Scholarship Program are currently available and must be submitted by March 29, 2024. Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee from Filer Credit Union.

The applications are also available at Filer Credit Union 1117 28th St.

Filer Credit Union is currently constructing a Mason County office that will be located in the 3900 block
