Reader offers ways pool supporters can help

Letters to the editor are opinion editorials submitted by readers. Letters to the editor are a long tradition in American journalism. The views and opinions of the writer do not necessarily reflect those of Mason County Press, its staff or its parent company. For more information, please refer to MCP’s Op/Ed policy.

Dear Editor,

Please print the following information:

Are you a family looking to swim together on the weekends, or have kids in need of swim lessons and water safety?  Do your enjoy swim exercise programs or need therapeutic relief from a chronic condition?  Do you enjoy lap and recreational swimming?  Are you a healthcare provider who advises water therapy for your patients? As a concerned citizen, do you believe that the pool plays an important part in the health and wellness of the community?

If you answer “yes” to any of the above questions, here’s how you can help us save the West Shore Community College pool.  With a decision on the pool expected soon, the support of the community as a whole is vitally important.

Share your thoughts and personal experiences:

  • Communicate with your elected Board of Trustee members. Email tmstadler@westshore.edu with “To All Board Trustees” in the subject line.
  • Write a letter to the editor of the Ludington Daily News, the Mason County Press  or other local media. For the Ludington Daily News, you can email to: editor@ludingtondailynews.com and include your name and phone number.  For the Mason County Press, you can email to: editor@mediagroup31.com and include your name, full address and phone number.
  • Attend the upcoming College Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for February 19, 2024, at 4PM at the Administrative & Conference Building (on campus)
  • Join our group by e-mailing friendsofthepoolWSCC@gmail.com, and we will keep you informed of our efforts.  No dues are required.
  • “Like”  Friends of the Pool on Facebook.

Most important, the college will have a public forum on the future of the pool; it will be announced in the paper when it is scheduled. Please plan to attend.

Support local news for $10 a month

We hope you enjoy reading Mason County Press and Oceana County Press. Our services are provided to you through the generous support of our advertisers. Traditional newspaper models require subscriptions or purchase of an individual newspaper in order to see their product. We do not, and will not, require our readers to pay a subscription. However, we have had many of our kind readers ask how they can support us if they were to make a monthly contribution. For those who would like to contribute, we are suggesting $10 a month.

This can be paid several ways:

The easiest way is to sign up for an automatic monthly payment on Paypal. Click this link.

Alternative methods:

  • We can send you an invoice each month, which you can conveniently pay online or by check. If you are interested in this method, please email editor@mediagroup31.com and we can sign you up. You can also mail a yearly check for $120 to Media Group 31, PO Box 21, Scottville, MI 49454.
  • We also accept Venmo payments.

We appreciate all our readers regardless of whether they chose to continue to access our service for free or with a monthly financial support.
