West Shore Wolves win second straight district title

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The West Shore Wolves won their second straight district title, qualifying for a shot at the state championship. 

The squad captured the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) District 6 title in the tournament last weekend in Muskegon, after defeating Big Rapids 9-2; Grand Valley Stars 7-0; Kalamazoo Wings White 7-3 in the semifinals; and Kalamazoo Wings Black with a 13-1 mercy win in the second period of the finals.

The Wolves will advance to the MAHA state playoffs next month in Howell.

The team includes 16 teens from Ludington, Scottville, Pentwater, Hart and Manistee.

Hart High School: Jackson Bishop and Joel Knobel;

Ludington High School: Ryan Higley and Anderson Riemer;

Ludington’s OJ DeJonge Middle School: Landon Bruno-Rombach, Graham Carroll, Kowen Hamilton, Grant Hill, Bradey Lawler, Adrian Lundberg and Timothy Pomeroy;

Pentwater Middle School: Benjamin Wisenbaugh;

Manistee Middle School: Jacob Bielski;

Mason County Central High School: Nathan Adams;

Mason County Central Middle School: Owen Adair and Brayden Quillan.

The Wolves are coached by Roy Bishop, Mark Hamilton and Eric Pomeroy. Their home rink is the West Shore Community Ice Arena at West Shore Community College in Victory Township.
