Ludington B2 Outlet store closes

AMBER TOWNSHIP — The B2 Outlet Store at 4743 W. US 10 has closed less than a year after expanding into a large retail space.

The Hudsonville-based discount store’s grand opening was held in March 2023 in the plaza next to Goodwill. B2 Outlet originally opened in January 2020 at 4494 W. US 10 by Lowe’s. After opening the larger store across the road, B2 Outlet converted the original store into a furniture outlet, which abruptly closed in November.

In recent weeks, merchandise at the B2 Outlet Store has been significantly discounted, with shelves becoming bare. Store employees indicated they were given no advanced notice the store would be closing.

A post on the company’s Facebook page dated January 30, 2024 says the Ludington location is closed effective immediately.

“The challenges and complexities of navigating a sluggish retail economy has resulted in significant declined sales,” the post said. “This has impacted nearly every retailer and B2 is not immune. We have pivoted with various creative ways to drive foot traffic, yet a turnaround has not occurred. Although closing stores is never an easy decision, B2 has reached that point where closing a small number of stores is imperative.”

Over the past several months, B2 Outlet has closed many of its stores throughout Michigan. The company’s website does not list any store locations in its “Find a Store” section. A sign posted on the door of the Ludington location states, “This location is now closed. Thank you for your patronage.”

The statement on Facebook further goes on to say, “We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our valued customers who shopped at stores that may be closing. Thank you for helping us be a blessing in the Ludington community.”
