EDEN TOWNSHIP — A 27-year-old Scottville man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies for arson — burning of personal property Friday, Jan. 5, shortly after 9 p.m. in the 500 block of East Chauvez Road “following a 911 call from a female reporting a male on the property was burning items that did not belong to him,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “When deputies arrived, they observed clothing on fire outside the home. The fire was extinguished by deputies.”

He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Friday, Jan. 5, 2024:

• 8 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 north of Sugar Grove Road, Sherman Township.
• 8:03 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Sugar Grove Road west of Tuttle Road, Sherman Township.
• 4:19 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle rear-end crash, minor injury, US 10 east of Main Street, Village of Custer. A 44-year-old Ludington man and a 23-year-old Manistee man — both of whom were drivers — received minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash.
• 4:54 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 38-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving on an expired license, near the intersection of Delia Street and Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington.

Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024:

• 12:45 a.m., (LPD), a 49-year-old Ludington man was arrested for domestic assault, 1300 block of South Madison Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 4:16 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, minor injury, Darr Road north of Kinney Road, Eden Township. A 22-year-old Scottville man received minor injuries after he reported striking a deer; running off the road; and striking an embankment.
• 9:10 a.m., (MCSO), damaged property — broken window, 100 block of North Jebavy Drive, Pere Marquette Township. The complainant noticed a window to a business broken by a metal object, which was found inside the business.
• 10:36 a.m., (MCSO), a 48-year-old Scottville man was arrested on an outstanding Mason County warrant, 5100 block of North US 31, Sherman Township.
• 2:30 p.m., (LPD), a 45-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving while license suspended (DWLS) and arrested on a failure to appear warrant issued by Manistee County’s 85th District Court, near the intersection of Nelson Road and Lawndale Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 12:19 p.m., (MCSO), a 19-year-old Scottville man was arrested for domestic violence following a 911 call reporting a disturbance, 400 block of West Third Street, City of Scottville. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 5:33 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of Decker Road, Hamlin Township.
• 5:37 p.m., (MCSO), retail fraud, Walmart, West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. A report will be forwarded to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office regarding an alleged retail fraud case involving a 38-year-old Ludington woman.

Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024:

• 11:36 a.m., (MCSO), a 68-year-old Ludington man was arrested on an outstanding Mason County failure to appear warrant, arrant arrest, 3600 block of West Forest Hill Circle, Amber Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 6:25 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 36-year-old Manistee man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, Us 10 and Gordon Road, Amber Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 1:33  p.m., (MCSO), a 48-year-old Branch man was arrested on an outstanding Mason County failure to appear warrant, 7800 block of East US 10, Branch Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 3:12 p.m., (LPD), a 35-year-old Ludington woman was cited for DWLS, near the intersection of Staffon and Melendy streets, City of Ludington.
