WMCMH teams unite to deliver Thanksgiving feasts to local veterans

Mental Health Matters by Lori Schummer

Director of Public Relations and Customer Services at WMCMH

A heartfelt gesture of gratitude and generosity was recently shared by West Michigan Community Mental Health (WMCMH) with local veterans in Lake, Mason, and Oceana counties.

The event was part of the agency’s “Spotlight of the Month,” bringing teams together to work together. This month’s spotlight took a special turn as team members organized a heartwarming Thanksgiving dinner for local veterans. Ten dinners were delivered to local veterans and their families.

The initiative not only showcased the teamwork and community spirit within WMCMH but also emphasized the agency’s commitment to giving back to those who served our country. The act of preparing the feast was an expression of appreciation for the sacrifices by the veterans.

As we reflect on this initiative, it serves as a reminder that small acts of kindness and generosity can make a significant difference in the lives of others. The WMCMH Thanksgiving dinner for local veterans stands as a testament to the power of community, compassion, and the enduring spirit of gratitude.

WMCMH has a veteran peer navigator to serve those who served our country. The veteran navigator service is free and is available to all veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families. To learn more, go to www.wmcmhs.org or call 1-800-992-2061.

Special thanks to the Lakeshore Resource Network for graciously providing its facility for the preparation of the feast.
