Obituary: Jean Knudsen, 80, of Ludington

Jean (Underwood) Knudsen went to be with her Lord on, on Friday Nov 12.  She was born In Ludington to Henry and Lydia Underwood; one of eight children.  She is survived by brother Richard (Virginia) Underwood and sister Nancy (Jerry) Kiel.

Jean and her husband Richard, who preceded her in death, raised three boys: Richard (Deena) of Kansas, Randolph (Amy) Ludington and Timothy (Belinda), Florida.  She had 11 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren who she adored.  She may have kept her boys in line when they were growing up but in Jean’s eyes her grandchildren could do no wrong.  They were the light of her life.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings; her twin Jo Ann, Betty, Henry, and Bernard.

Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed card and board games. She loved crocheting and she blessed many people with her Christmas Angels and ornaments.  Jean learned to cook and bake early in life to help her mother out; these skills were certainly enjoyed by her husband and boys.

When her boys were younger; no fathers stepped up to head the Boy Scout troop, so Jean took the job on and was a den mother for eight years.  These now grown men still bring up memories of troop meetings in her living room.

Jean met death on her own terms and decided when to go into hospice.  The week before her death Jean had a Celebration of Life at her son’s home and was blessed by many family members coming to see her and give her their love and prayers before she passed.

A memorial service is planned for the spring.
