Smith & Eddy Insurance ready to help Medicare customers

SCOTTVILLE — Smith & Eddy Insurance is among several insurance agencies across the country in the process of helping people ages 65 and over navigate through Medicare. The current Medicare enrollment period began Oct. 15 and continues through Dec. 7. In addition, the Affordable Health Care Act market place will begin on Nov. 1 and continues through Jan. 15, 2024.

“There’s a lot of noise out there,” Ed Forfinski, agent at Smith & Eddy said. “There are a lot of TV commercials and other advertisements that give out a lot of information about Medicare parts A and B. Some of it is true and some of it is somewhat true. It’s my job to meet here locally with folks and get them to what’s true.”

Forfinski said local agents have the benefit of knowing the people in their community and the medical services available. While it’s certainly a person’s prerogative to call a national company, it’s very unlikely the results will be in the best interest of the client, Forfinski said.

“Our clients come from all socioeconomic levels with different levels of knowledge about the Medicare system. When we meet, I believe they find great comfort in knowing that they are meeting with their neighbors, people who live right here in their own communities.”

Forfinski can be reached at 231-757-4743, ext. 1101, 231-794-5740, or edf@smith-eddy.com. Smith & Eddy’s offices are located at 201 S. Main St., Scottville, 1554 S. US 31, Manistee, and 1054 Washington Street, Grand Haven.

Editor’s Note: Smith & Eddy Insurance is one of the great local businesses that help support Mason County Press and Oceana County Press so our services can be brought to you, the reader, at no paywalls or subscription fees.
