Youth Advisory Council approves education grants

LUDINGTON — The Youth Advisory Council of the Community Foundation for Mason County recently approved 10 Teacher Mini-Grant Awards to educators and counselors across Mason County. A total of $3,500 was awarded from the Youth Advisory Council Fund through the competitive application process.Highlights of the grants awarded include:

  • Covenant Christian School: $497 to purchase electronic scanners to support independent reading.
  • Mason County Central’s Victory Early Childhood Center: $500 to support the completion of a Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential for two staff members.
  • Ludington Area Schools: $795 to provide funding for professional development, a classroom project, and art supplies.
  • Mason County Central Schools: $1,008 to purchase technology equipment, high-interest literature, and recorders for fourth and fifth grade students.
  • Ludington Area Catholic School: $200 to purchase tools to help preschool and kindergarten students regulate their emotions.
  • West Shore ESD: $500 to provide flexible seating for students.

Teacher Mini-Grant applications are accepted annually in September. Public and private school teachers and counselors in Mason County who are interested in seeking grant support from the Community Foundation are encouraged to visit for additional information about the YAC Grant process.
