MCC band continues competition season

SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central High School Marching Band has competed in two marching band competitions this fall. It is the first time in 42 years that the high school band has participated in school invitational competitions. On Saturday, Oct. 7, the band competed at Cedar Springs Red Flannel Festival Marching Band Invitational and took sixth place overall. Later that day, the band marched in the Cedar Springs Red Flannel Festival parade. On Sept. 23 the band took fourth place in the class C category of the Grand Haven High School Invitational.

On Wednesday, Oct. 11, the band will compete in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District I Marching Band Festival at Big Rapids High School.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, the band will participate in two invitationals, the Jenison Marching Band Invitational and the East Kentwood Marching Band Invitational.

The band is directed by Caleb Schultz with assistance from Lauren Tiffany, Mason County Eastern band director. Three students from MCE are also participating in the MCC marching band this season.
