MCC to hold community forum Wednesday to discuss bond vote

SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central Schools will host a community forum on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The forum will discuss the two ballot proposals that will be decided during the Nov. 7 election.

Proposal 1 is a $17.9 million bond request that will focus on school-wide safety and security and infrastructure repairs and improvements. While safety and security upgrades are proposed for all five of the district’s school buildings, the majority of the infrastructure repairs are proposed for the 64-year-old high school. Millage rate of Proposal 1 would be a .8 mill increase to the current school millage rate.

Proposal 2 is a $16.1 million bond request for construction an auditorium that would be located at the high school. Millage rate of Proposal 2 would a 1.47 mills increase over the current school millage rate.
