Mears woman accused of ‘under ringing’ at Walmart 8 times

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 49-year-old Mears woman is accused of shoplifting at Walmart on West US 10 by “under ringing” merchandise in the self checkout lane eight separate times since June, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“The suspect reportedly entered the store on Sept. 30; attempted the theft again; and was captured,” said Sheriff Cole. The police report will be forwarded to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office to pursue charges.

“Under ringing” typically involves scanning in cheaper items for more expensive items in the self check-out lane.
