Motorist allegedly rear ends, punches vehicle in road rage incident

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — A motorist reportedly struck the back of another vehicle with his vehicle and then got out of his vehicle and punched the victim’s vehicle, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The road rage/damaged property incident occurred Friday, Sept. 22, shortly before noon on Jebavy Drive north of Fisher Road. “The complainant reported a subject pulled out in front of him, so he passed it, and the vehicle then reportedly struck the back of his vehicle,” said Sheriff Cole. “The caller stated he pulled over, and the suspect reportedly punched the back of his vehicle.”

The case remains under investigation.

  • 11:47 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), ​a 29-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving while license suspended, Washington Avenue and Filer​ Street, City of Ludington.
  • 1 p.m., (LPD), ​a 19-year-old Grand Rapids woman was arrested by the Hart Police Department on an outstanding warrant issued by the 79th District Court for failure to appear on a traffic charge, City of Hart. The Ludington Police Department took custody of the woman at the county line and lodged her in the Mason County Jail.
  • 8:12 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Pere Marquette Highway south of Schlick Road, Summit Township.
  • 8:30 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash no injury, Jebavy Drive south of Hazelwood Road, Pere Marquette Township.

Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023:

  • 1 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Jebavy Drive, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 5:26 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash hit-and-run crash, no injury, Pere Marquette Highway and Sixth Street, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 8:06 p.m., (MCSO), gas drive-off, $20.12 in fuel stolen, Scottville EZ Mart, 400 block of East US 10, Custer Township.

Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023:

  • ​8:09 a.m., (LPD), ​an 18-year-old Ludington man was arrested for disorderly conduct, 100 block of West Filer Street​, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 11:35 a.m., (Michigan State Police), a 46-year-old Ludington man was arrested for parole violation, First and Sherman streets, City of Ludington.
  • 5:34 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive north of Kistler Road, Summit Township.
  • 8:16 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Meyers Road, Amber Township.

No activity was reported by the Scottville Police Department for the weekend of Sept. 22-24, 2023.
