Kyoung Larsen

Obituary: Kyoung S. Larsen, 91, of Ludington

Kyoung S. Larsen, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Sept 15, 2023. She was born on January 9, 1932 to Lee Insung and Lim  Kyoung Ho in Japan and was one of five siblings.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Gary D. Larsen as well as two brothers.

Survivors include her children, Edward (Mary) Larsen, Michael (Susan) Larsen, and Christy Rinkevicz.  Grandchildren include Sarah Larsen, Hanna (Ethan) Rinkevicz, and Madelyn Rinkevicz.

Kyoung, or Sue, as most knew her, was born and lived in Japan for the first 14 years of her life.  She and her family then moved to their home country of Korea.  It was in Korea that Sue met the love of her life, Gary, while he was serving in the United States Army.  After several years and two children, she moved to the United States with Gary and settled in Ludington.  Sue made a loving home for her family in Ludington while making many friends in the community.  She was fiercely dedicated to her family and demonstrated quiet strength and perseverance throughout her life.  Smart, strong, funny, and direct, Sue could light up a room with her smile and bring you to your knees with her sense of humor.  She survived through 2 wars, was fluent in 3 languages, could grow anything she put her mind to, and her cooking put restaurants to shame.  Sue made a positive impact on everyone she met and her absence with be deeply felt.

Visitation for Kyoung will be held on Sept 29, 2023 at 4 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.  A service will be held directly afterward at 5 p.m. followed by a meal.
