Obituary: Carter Koles, 79, of Ludington

Carter Marshall Koles, 79, of Ludington, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Carter was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on December 2, 1943, the son of John and Ruth (Kennington) Koles. In 1961, he graduated from Pueblo High School. He went on to further his education, earning a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado. On July 25, 1968, Carter married his forever love, Joan (Graham) Koles. For over 30 years, Carter was employed by Dow Chemical. He was also a pilot for Martin Air. He was active with the Fin & Feather Club of Mason County, and the Mason County Walleye Association.

Carter was an avid pilot. He found that to be one of his greatest passions. He also loved hunting and fishing. One of his many great accomplishments was building his own home for his family.

Carter is survived by his wife, Joan Koles; son, Scott Koles; daughter, Katherine (Becker) Koles; brother, Justin Koles; grandchildren, Maxton Becker, and Keaton Becker; and great-grandchildren, Maverick Becker, and Kingsley Becker

Carter was preceded in death by his son, Michael Koles; and parents, John, and Ruth Koles.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11am at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
