VICTORY TOWNSHIP — West Shore Community College was recently ranked the leading community college in Michigan in serving low-income students.  A recent report titled “The Colleges Where Low-Income Students Get the Highest ROI (return on investment),” conducted by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce, identifies WSCC as leading all community colleges in Michigan in two metrics.

According to the report, WSCC serves the highest percentage of Federal Pell Grant-eligible students among community colleges in Michigan.  Furthermore, the college achieved the highest graduation rate among Pell Grant recipients in the state, underscoring its unwavering commitment to student success and equitable access to education.

The findings highlight WSCC’s dedication to providing a transformative educational experience for all students, regardless of their socioeconomic background.  It reflects the college’s tireless efforts in creating pathways to prosperity, breaking barriers, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and achievement.

“We are immensely proud of this recognition, which reaffirms our pursuit to empower every student to reach their full potential,” said WSCC President Scott Ward.  “At WSCC, we believe that education is a powerful catalyst for change and that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.  We are committed to ensuring that every student who walks through our doors has the support and resources they need to succeed.

“This type of accomplishment is the result of the collective commitment of residents, businesses, educators, and advocates that has allowed the college to prosper.  The collaborative efforts of our community have provided critical resources and support, ensuring that our students feel valued and empowered to succeed.  These results are a testament to the power of unity and collective action.”

The report’s findings showcase WSCC as a model institution that not only enrolls a diverse student body but also equips them with the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve their academic and career goals.  The college’s dedication to holistic student support, exceptional faculty, and innovative programs have proven instrumental in achieving these outcomes.
