Rath Avenue closures to take place for new building construction

LUDINGTON — Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 13, the northbound lane of South Rath Avenue, between Ludington Avenue and Loomis Street, will be closed due to building construction that will take place on the southeast corner of Ludington and Rath avenues.

Additionally, for a six-week period beginning in early January, the entire block will be closed to accommodate a crane that will be setting steel framing.

“While this will be a short-term inconvenience for business owners, residents, and visitors alike, this project requires this closure due to the tight spaces that a downtown development deals with,” said Ludington City Manager Mitch Foster. “The goal is to limit the impact to daily activities as best as possible, while allowing this project to move forward in a timely fashion. In the end, this project will provide a multi-floor entertainment venue that will add to the vibrancy of downtown Ludington year-round.”

The new building will be a restaurant called AndyS. It was the former site of Michael’s Bar.
