Fire damages Scottville home

SCOTTVILLE — Four fire departments are currently battling a fire at house at 408 N. Main St. Firefighters were initially dispatched at 1:48 p.m. for the fire that has caused severe damage to the home. Scottville Fire Department Chief Dale Larr said the homeowners indicated that the fire may have started near the air conditioning window unit on the second floor of the house. Larr said the house was not insured.

Responding fire departments include Scottville Fire Department, Custer Fire Department, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, and Branch Fire Department. Also on scene are Scottville Police Department, Life EMS and Michigan State Police. Fountain Area Fire Department Auxiliary also responded.

North Main Street between Broadway Avenue and Beryl Street is currently closed.
