Carferry crossings suspended temporarily

LUDINGTON — Cross-lake service of the SS Badger carferry has been temporarily suspended due to a mechanical failure of the dock’s ramping system. 

This morning, Lake Michigan Carferry posted on the Badger Facebook page that it had cancelled today’s sailing due to an issue with the dock. A press release was later posted on the Facebook page. 

“We have engaged a quick-response team to Great Lakes partners to repair the issue as quickly and safely as possible,” the release stated. “They are at work now assessing the situation.

“We apologize to our customers for this unexpected interruption in our service and we appreciate their patience as we work to resolve the issue.” 

  An estimated time of repair was not provided in the release. 

LMC is offering refunds or the option to change reservations to passengers, who may call 800-841-4243.
