Man arrested with machete outside Ludington library

LUDINGTON — A 28-year-old Ludington man was arrested by Ludington police officers for carrying a concealed weapon — a machete — and resisting arrest outside the Ludington branch of the Mason County District Library on Ludington Avenue Tuesday, July 18, shortly before ​11:30 p.m., according to Cpt. Steve Wietrzykowski.

Ludington police officers responded to a disturbance call outside the library when they arrested the suspect. The man was lodged in the Mason County Jail. No injuries were reported, said Cpt. Wietrzykowski.

The following is other police activity in Mason County Tuesday, July 18, 2023:

• 5:45 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Marrison Road east of LaSalle Road, Riverton Township.
• 12:45 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 31 north of US 10, Amber Township.
• 12:57 p.m., (MCSO), stolen license plate, 4800 block of East Barothy Road, Branch Township. The complainant reported the theft of a Michigan registration plate #EHN4203 stolen off of a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban.
• 5:28 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, Stiles Road south of Victory Drive, Victory Township.
