Body of Scottville man found last month in Utah

The body of a Scottville man who has been missing since March 2018, was found on May 17 in Utah. Bartt Felt, born in 1971, was last seen on the Medicine Hat Bridge in San Juan County, Utah, according to a 2022 news story on Utah’s ABC 4 TV. His disappearance was researched by Utah Cold Case Coalition whose executive director, Deborah Dilley, told ABC 4 that he was last seen on March 23, 2018 at 6 a.m. He was wearing an ankle monitor at the time and that was the last ping to the monitor, Dilley said.

Felt’s mother, Joyce Grassa of Scottville, stated that Felt left a backpack on the bridge and it was turned over to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

“It had a note in it that he couldn’t do it anymore,” said his mother in the ABC 4 interview. “He was very angry at me and his ex-wife and her boss. He wrote a letter but he wasn’t right anymore. You know, in his mind.”

Authorities found his abandoned car a short distance away at the Valley of the Gods, nine miles from the bridge. But there were no clues indicating where he was.

Utah Cold Case created a Facebook page, “Where is Bartt Felt?” The last posting was on March 3, 2022 with the ABC 4 news story link.

A Nov. 26, 2021 post stated that search and rescue efforts covered more than a 10-mile radius by foot, horse and drones.

“We’ve kind of exhausted all of our resources in trying to figure out where he is,” San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldridge said in 2018. “We’ve put a message out to the public to help us. We’re hoping for a tip. We’re hoping for something that can help us move along in the investigation.”

Felt had been on an ankle tether as terms of his probation, stemming from a 2016 case of stalking and domestic violence in Kent County. On March 2018, he was given permission to visit his father, Eric Lee Felt in Arizona, who was ailing. Eric Felt died in 2020.
