Transfer Site: 

The Hamlin Township Transfer Site is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays through September 30, 2023.  (The Transfer Site will be open on Monday, May 29, 2023 (Memorial Day) from 10 am – 6 pm.  It is requested that everyone be courteous to the staff and have your garbage and recycling disposed of by 5:55 pm.

Recycling Decals:

The 2023-2024 Recycling Decals are available for purchase at the Township Hall for the current fiscal year which started April 1, 2023 and runs through March 31, 2024. The Recycling Decals are $20 for Hamlin Township Residents.

Clean-Up Day:

The 2023 Hamlin Township Clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 8 a.m. – noon. A “free” voucher is required for residents and it can be obtained at the Hamlin Township Office prior to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Household Hazardous Waste:

The Mason County Household Hazardous Waste is scheduled for Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Mason County Road Commission in Scottville from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Long Skinny Park Improvements:

Hamlin Township is accepting bids on the Long Skinny Park for a seawall improvement project.

Life Jackets:

Hamlin Township received a grant for a life jacket loaner stand and life jackets.  The stand and jackets have been placed at the South Bayou Park. If someone needs a life jacket, they are more than welcome to use one, however we asked that the life jacket be returned to the stand.

Road Improvements:

Hamlin Township approved $435,269.35 in road improvement projects for 2023 which consists of:  

• The corner of Victory and Lakeshore drives easterly 350-feet, select ditching, hot mixed asphalt overlay with valley gutter, two hot mixed asphalt spillways and restoration.  
• The corner of Dewey and Stearns roads, 235-feet westerly, hot mixed asphalt overlay.
• The corner of Grace Avenue and Shagway Street, northerly 300-feet, which will consist of a removing hot mixed asphalt, saw cut joints, gravel and compact, leach basin installed and hot mixed asphalt overlay
• Rath Road between Decker and Sugar Grove roads, grade and compact with hot mixed asphalt, 22-feet wide.
• Rath Road between Jagger and Decker roads, grade and compact with hot mixed asphalt 22-feet wide.
• Sugar Grove Road, grade and compact, hot mixed asphalt 22-feet wide.
• North Lincoln Road between the addresses of 2456 and 2490, hot mixed asphalt overlay and restoration.  
• Piney Ridge Road, which was a contract from the prior year was just finished, and included select wedging and overlay between the addresses of 3130 and 3264.  
• Hamlin Township Board of Trustees also approved township-wide dust control which includes a single application along with a double application and partnering with the adjacent township for one single brine application for Nurnberg Road.
• Hamlin Township has been working with the Mason County Road Commission to rebuild the South Bayou Bridge on North Lakeshore Drive. Soil borings for this project are expected to be completed the week of May 22, 2023.

Foreclosed Properties:

Hamlin Township Board of Trustees refused the second right of refusal to purchase the 2023 foreclosed properties for unpaid property taxes which includes the following parcels:  

• • 53-007-220-265-00 – Hamlin Lake Estates No. 1 Lots 14, 15, 16 in Block 23.  53-007-220-266-00 – Hamlin Lake Estates No. 1 Lots 17 & 18 in Block 23.
  • 53-007-220-521-00 – Hamlin Lake Estates No. 1 Lot 24 Block 50.  

Meetings:

• • The next Hamlin Township Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for June 5, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Hamlin Township Hall.
  • The next Zoning Board of Appeals meeting is scheduled for May 31, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Hamlin Township Hall.
