Sandcastles to host Ludington 150th birthday party Saturday

LUDINGTON — Sandcastles Children’s Museum, 129 E. Ludington Ave., will host a 150th birthday party honoring the City of Ludington on Saturday, May 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

During the party, kids can learn what Ludington was like in 1873. Museum staff will be dressed in 1870s era clothing and there will be a dress-up station for kids. Activities around the museum will show kids what games were like back then, with many of them homemade. 

Some of the all-day activities will include: An interactive log cabin and old fashioned games on the deck and pioneer dress-up station on the first floor stage. Other events will include: Crafting yarn dolls at the Creation Station with Deb Borema, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; musician Eric Engblade, 12:30 to 2:20 p.m.; birthday cake served by the SS Badger exhibit, noon; baking biscuits in the basement, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
