Shelby State Bank’s Jerad Hurd earns chartered retirement specialist designation 

AMBER TOWNSHIP — Jerad Hurd, Financial Advisor at SSB Financial Services, located at Shelby State Bank in Ludington, has obtained his chartered retirement plan specialist (CRPS) designation. To receive the designation, Hurd completed an educational program and exam covering best practices for establishing an efficient retirement plan and ensuring regular compliance with plan rules. 

The CRPS designation is awarded by the College for Financial Planning ⁱn Denver, Colorado. CRPS designees must pass an initial training program on how to design, install, and administer retirement plans for the business community, and must complete continuing education requirements to maintain their designation. In addition, all CRPS designees make a pledge to uphold the college’s code of ethics.

“The CRPS designation is well-respected in the financial services field,” said Hurd. “Because of ever-increasing client demand for financial advisors who are knowledgeable in the administration of retirement plans for businesses and their employees, this advanced training is specifically designed to focus on design, installation, and maintenance of retirement plans. I felt it was important to pursue this designation.”
