MCE Athletic Boosters Auction to include 3 big hunts

FOUNTAIN — Mason County Eastern Athletic Boosters will hold its annual auction, in person, on Saturday, April 22 at Sherman Township Hall, 3854 E. Main St. This year’s event, which is the organization’s primary fundraiser, will feature bidding on three out-of-country hunts in South Africa, Argentina and New Zealand. 

The hunts are furnished by Charity Safaris of Colorado, an online charity fundraising site that offers a platform for companies that donate to charities to give back to the community.

“We are excited about adding the hunts to our auction,” said Sheri Howe, one of the event organizers. “Special excursions such as these hunts are very popular at auctions and they also help generate additional funds.” 

According to its website, 100% of the auction proceeds raised in the sale of a Charity Safaris hunt is kept by the local organization hosting the auction.

The event will include several other items as well, including many gift certificates from local restaurants, cruises on the SS Badger, vehicle and home maintenance packages, health and wellness packages, quilts, escape room passes, Grand Rapids Whitecaps baseball tickets, Grand Rapids Griffins hockey tickets, Traverse City Pit Spitters baseball tickets,  and much more. There will also be two mystery prizes. The event will be a combination of a silent auction and live auction. 

The auction begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 per person. It will include a taco bar and dessert, water and coffee. Attendees may bring their own beverages.

About the hunts: 

The three hunts include: 

Africa Plains Game Hunt, South Africa, eight days, seven nights with six hunting days for four hunters. Value of $12,600. 

Argentina Big Game Hunt, five days, four nights with three hunting days for four hunters. Value of $8,000. 

New Zealand Big Game Hunt, five days, four nights with three hunting days for four hunters. Value of $12,000.
