WSCC to present free film series at The Vogue

WSCC News is a presentation of West Shore Community College in partnership with Mason County Press. 

MANISTEE — The West Shore Community College Humankind series will host a mini film series during the month of April at the Vogue Theatre, 383 River St., in connection with its theme of the year, “The Future of Work.” Below is the list of films with showing dates and times:

• “Tommy Boy” (1995 comedy): Wednesday, Apr. 5 10 a.m., 7 p.m.
• “Up in the Air” (2009 romantic comedy-drama): Tuesday, Apr. 11 7 p.m.
• “The Big Short” (2015 biographical comedy-drama): Tuesday, Apr. 18 7 p.m.
• “Cabin in the Woods” (2011 science fiction comedy-horror): Friday, Apr. 28 7 p.m.

All films are free and open to anyone. Each film includes a free pop and popcorn for each attendee.

“We are excited for our continued collaboration with the WSCC humankind series this Spring,” said Kelsey Rhodes, general manager of operations at the Vogue Theatre. “The future of work is such a timely topic for our society, and we welcome the community to the theatre for a variety of films that speak to this theme and the possibilities for what the future of work might look like. Film provides a unique opportunity to envision, contemplate and reflect, and we look forward to the conversations that will be sparked by the magic of cinema.”

The Humankind series is West Shore Community College’s cultural arts and lecture series.  The theme for the 2022-2023 academic year is the future of work.  For more information about the humankind series, visit the WSCC website or email humankind@westshore.edu.
