Law enforcement searching for Lake County shooting suspect

WEBBER TOWNSHIP (Lake County) — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release today stating it is searching for a suspect who was involved in a shooting that took place about 8:27 p.m. on Friday, March 10 at a residence in Lake County’s Webber Township. The shooting involved a 33-year-old victim and alleged shooter Alton James Corbin, II, 40. Corbin reportedly fled the scene and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about Corbin’s whereabouts or the incident should call Lake County Central Dispatch at 231-745-2711. The LCSO has requested that anyone who sees Corbin not attempt to approach or make contact with him.

According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, Corbin is a white male, 6-feet, 2-inches tall, weights 206 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes. He was released from prison in 2021 after serving six years of a five to 20 year sentence for armed robbery in Muskegon County. Previously, he had served a two-year prison sentence from 2006 to 2008 for two counts of larceny in a building in Ottawa County.
