Man on late night donut-spinning spree arrested for drunk driving, cocaine possession

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 24-year-old Ludington man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, for operating while intoxicated and cocaine possession following multiple calls reporting a reckless driver, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“The first call was reported as a vehicle — matching that of the suspect’s when found — spinning donuts at Jebavy Drive and Angling Road, and a short time later on Pere Marquette Highway near Wallace Lane,” said Sheriff Cole.

The vehicle was located at West Coast Car Wash where the man was arrested. He was also reportedly found to have suspected cocaine in his possession.

  • 12:51 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a ​28-year-old ​Mears woman was ​arrested for aggravated assault, 100 block North Franklin Street, City of Ludington. She was lodged in Mason County Jail. The victim did not seek medical treatment.
  • 7:01 p.m., (MCSO), a 35-year-old Hart woman was cited for driving while license suspended (DWLS) following a traffic stop, US 10 and Budzynski Road, Branch Township.

  • 1:43 am., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Reek Road, Custer Township.
  • 7:10 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Amber Township.
  • 8:21 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 9:57 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 1:36 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Stiles Road south of Victory Drive, Victory Township.
  • 3:03 p.m., (MCSO), retail fraud investigation, Walmart, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. Deputies started an investigation into a reported retail fraud after store employees located merchandise wrappers and merchandise in the women’s restroom Thursday, March 2. The suspect allegedly returned Saturday around 3 p.m. and is alleged to have stolen again — this time being detained by Walmart loss prevention employees. The suspect has been identified as an 18-year-old Shelby woman.
  • 7:07 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 south of Koenig Road, Free Soil Township.
  • 8:44 p.m., (MCSO), a 44-year-old Muskegon man was cited ​for second-offense driving while license revoked following a traffic stop, Stiles and Beyer roads, Victory Township. A 51- year-old female passenger from Manistee was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant issued in Manistee County.

  • 1:13 a.m., (MCSO), a 23 year-old Ludington man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop​, Jebavy Drive and Rasmussen Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 6:55 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of Fisher Road, Hamlin Township.
  • 12:06 p.m.,  (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, Ludington Avenue east of Lewis Street, City of Ludington.
  • 3:51 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Wildwood Crossing, Amber Township.
  • 3:55 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 23-year-old Scottville man was arrested for assault and battery, 400 block of 3rd Street, City of Scottville.
  • 6:20 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Brye Road, Amber Township)
  • 7:20 p.m., (MCSO), a 51-year-old Scottville man was arrested for domestic violence following a 911 call reporting a disturbance, 4600 block of South Scottville Road, Riverton Township. The investigation revealed the suspect allegedly punched the victim, who is a Scottville woman.
  • 9:49 p.m., (LPD), ​a 53-year-old ​Ludington man​ was cited for for public intoxication, 400 block South James Street​, City of Ludington.
