Snowmobiler injured after striking tree

GRANT TOWNSHIP — A 35-year-old Scottville man was transported by Life EMS to Corewell Health Ludington Hospital (formerly Spectrum Health) for “non-life threatening injuries” after the snowmobile he was operating struck a tree Wednesday, March 1, around 1:30 p.m. on US Forest Service Trail 8038 near Nurnberg Road, according to Mason County Undersheriff Derrek Wilson.

Deputies investigated the crash scene, and it was reported that the driver had lost control and struck a tree on the side of the trail, said Undersheriff Wilson.

Deputies also responded to a two-vehicle crash at 1:15 p.m. on US 10 near the US 31 bypass in Amber Township, said the undersheriff. The crash caused a minor injury, and medical treatment was refused.

The Hart post of the Michigan State Police arrested a 31-year-old New Era woman on three outstanding warrants issued in Kent County Wednesday at 10:10 p.m. in the 200 block of Rath Avenue in the City of Ludington, said Sgt. Dan Thomas. The warrants were for charges of operating while intoxicated, operating under the influence causing an incapacitating injury and failure to appear. The suspect was lodged in the Mason County Jail until she was transported to the Kent County Jail.
