Local ministry receives $50,000 matching grant

LUDINGTON — Blue Hat Ministries, a locally-owned non-profit organization that provides legal guardianship for many of our local disabled adults, has recently received a $50,000 matching grant from Pennies from Heaven Foundation for the duration of two years. 

The organization’s mission is to help dependent adults thrive, no matter their circumstances. Any donations made to Blue Hat Ministries in 2023 and 2024 will be doubled by Pennies from Heaven, up to $50,000 each year.

“This is incredibly exciting news,” said Blue Hat Ministries volunteer fundraiser Brad Reed. “This will help us right away at Blue Hat Ministries provide immediate services that are so desperately needed for some of our county’s most vulnerable citizens. This could also really help us quickly grow our newly established endowment fund with the Community Foundation for Mason County. We live and work in such a supportive area of west Michigan and I am fired up to see what we can all do when we come together on this important initiative.”

Lena Bluestein, executive director of Blue Hat Ministries called the grant an answer to prayers. “We have several events already planned to help raise these matching funds.”

Bluestein said the organization is planning a fundraising evening of fine dining hosted at Chef John’s European Café & Bakery on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 6 p.m.
