Sheriff’s deputies busy with crashes, thefts

Recent police activity in Mason County includes:

Friday, Feb. 3, 2023:

  • 4:07 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), alarm activation, Free Soil Township.
  • 7:11 a.m., (MCSO), vehicle slide-off, no damage or injury, US 31 and Freeman Road, Free Soil Township.
  • 12:04 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, US 31 and US 10, Amber Township.
  • 1:18 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle rear-end crash, minor injuries, US 10 and Schoenherr Road, Branch Township. A 66-year-old Hersey, Michigan man and his passenger, a 66-year-old Hersey woman, were both injured after the vehicle their westbound vehicle was rear-ended on US 10.
  • 3:35 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Stiles Road south of Johnson Road, Amber Township.
  • 4:08 p.m., (MCSO), damaged property, 2900 block of North Lakeshore Drive, Hamlin Township. The complainant reported a vehicle spinning donuts in their yard.

Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023:

  • 1:18 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of Mavis Road, Hamlin Township.
  • 8 a.m., (MCSO), retail fraud, Walmart, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. A complaint will be forwarded to the Masson County Prosecutor’s Office regarding a 42-year-old Fountain woman for a reported retail fraud that occurred Jan. 29.
  • 12:44 p.m., (MCSO), breaking and entering to a storage unit, Roadside Storage Units, 5100 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. The complainant reported an unknown person reportedly broke into a storage unit and stole various items.
  • 1 p.m., (MCSO), retail fraud, Walmart, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. The complainant reported two adult males were reportedly witnessed stealing from the store. The case remains under investigation.
  • 1:31 p.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Logan Township.
  • 2 p.m., (Michigan State Police, Hart post), a 56-year-old Fountain man was arrested on a fugitive warrant for failure to appear for a show cause hearing in Isabella County’s 76th District Court, 7000 block of Stolberg Road, Sheridan Township.
  • 11 p.m., (MCSO), gas drive-off, $12.01 in fuel stolen, Airport Shell, 5400 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.

Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023:

  • 5:12 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Amber Township.
  • 6:49 a.m., (MCSO), gas drive-off, $30.45 in fuel stolen, Airport Shell, 5400 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 6:53 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Hamlin Township.
  • 7:07 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Custer Road south of Powers Road, Custer Township.
  • 9:09 pm., (MCSO), one-vehicle rollover crash, no injury, Free Soil Road west of Darr Road, Free Soil Township.

Monday, Feb. 6, 2023:

  • 12:25 p.m., (MCSO), alarm, 5000 block of Otter Ridge, Hamlin Township.

Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023:

  • 6:50 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Fountain Road near US 31, Sherman Township.
  • 7 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer cash, no injury- Chauvez Road near Lister Road, Riverton Township.
