Catalytic converters cut off vehicles at car dealerships

AMBER TOWNSHIP — Catalytic converters were cut off two vehicles parked on the lot at Betten Baker Ford located in the 3000 block of West US 10, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. The theft was reported Friday, Dec. 16, at 7:15 a.m.

A catalytic converter was cut off a vehicle parked at another local dealership — Watson’s, which is located in the 3600 block of West US 10, according to Sheriff Cole. The theft was reported Saturday, Dec. 17, shortly after 11 a.m.

  • 5:19 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), alarm activation, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 7:23 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 north of LaSalle Road, Grant Township.
  • 10:57 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), ​a 36-year-old Manistee woman was arrested in Traverse City on an outstanding failure to appear warrant issued by the 79th District Court. The original charge on the warrant is larceny in a building. Ludington police drove up to Traverse City to pick up the woman. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 1:25 p.m., (MCSO), vehicle slide-off, no damage/no injury, Rasmussen Road near Meyers Road, Amber Township.
  • 2:33 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle rollover crash, minor injury, Pere Marquette Highway south of Lenz Road, Pere Marquette Township. An 18-year-old Hart woman received minor injuries after the vehicle she was operating left the road and overturned on snowy roads.
  • 5:44 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, vehicle hit a tree, no injury, Dewey and Culver roads, Hamlin Township.

Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022:

  • 12:31 a.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 west of Dennis Road, Amber Township.
  • 4:23 a.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Maple Road, Branch Township.
  • 5:07 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, vehicle hit mailboxes, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of Decker Road, Hamlin Township.
  • 5:16 p.m., (MCSO), vehicle slide-off, no damage/no injury, southbound US 31 freeway north of Oceana Drive, Summit Township.
  • 5:20 p.m., one-vehicle crash, vehicle hit a tree, no injury, Scottville Road north of Bradshaw Road, Custer Township.
  • 6:29 p.m., (MCSO), a 29-year-old Scottville man was arrested on three outstanding Mason County warrants and charges of methamphetamine possession and possession of a concealed weapon — brass knuckles — after deputies located the suspect at Thornwild Apartments, City of Scottville. The warrants are for two felony counts of meth possession and a criminal bench warrant for failure to appear on a felony dangerous drugs charge. A warrant will be requested for a 34-year-old Ludington woman who was at the residence and found to be in possession of suspected meth, said Sheriff Cole.
  • ​7 p.m.,  (LPD), ​a 44-year-old Ludington man was arrested on an outstanding retail fraud warrant issued by the 79th District Court, 200 block of East Melendy Street​, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022:

  • 2:18 a.m., (MCSO), a 32-year-old Scottville man was arrested following a traffic for meth possession and resisting and opposing an office after he refused to exit the vehicle, 900 block of North Washington Avenue, City of Ludington.
  • 6:18 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Dewey Road west of Sherman Road, Hamlin Township.
  • 5:24 p.m., (MCSO), a 21-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a single-vehicle crash, Darr Road north of Townline Road, Free Soil Township. No one was injured.
  • 10:35 p.m., (MCSO), ​a 39-year-old Scottville man was arrested on an outstanding criminal bench warrant for failure to appear on a charge of resisting and opposing arrest issued by the Scottville Police Department.
