VIDEO: Shop with a Cop/Hero 

Around the County is a presentation of Preferred Credit Union, www.preferredcu.org, located locally at 266 N. Jebavy Dr., Ludington.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The annual Shop with a Cop/Shop with a Hero program is underway this week at Walmart and Meijer. Children who may not be able to afford Christmas presents are matched with a police officer, firefighters, EMT, or military person to shop for their family. The program is funded through donations, mostly raised at the annual pie auction which takes place before Thanksgiving. 

About 70 kids are participating in this year’s program with 10 to 15 volunteers each night helping with shopping and wrapping presents.
