Grants being offered to help celebrate Ludington’s 150th

LUDINGTON — As Ludington sesquicentennial approaches in 2023, the Community Foundation for Mason County, in partnership with the City of Ludington, Love Ludington and Pennies from Heaven Foundation, is offering grants to organizations and businesses that promote the city’s 150th anniversary. Applicants may apply for up to $1,500 with applications due by Feb. 3, 2023. There is currently a total of $15,000 available for grants.

Planning is underway for the sesquicentennial with a second meeting being held today at Ludington Municipal Building. The city is overseeing planning of the year’s activities with various groups and businesses holding special events. Another planning meeting will be held in January.

Guidelines for the grant applications include:

  • Activities must be focused on recognition and promotion of Ludington’s 150th birthday.
  • Total grant requests may not exceed $1,500.
  • The activity/event must be implemented by the applicant within the calendar year of 2023.
  • If the event requires permits from the City of Ludington, permits must be obtained prior to funds being released.
